Active Chemical Ingredient: Rutin (C27H30O16) strengthens the body’s blood vessels.

Uses: Buckwheat can be used to prevent and treat frostbite.

Preparation: Drinking a hot tea made of buckwheat will help against frostbite.

Mullein
Verbascum Thapsus



Habitat: Eastern deciduous forest & tall grass prairie

Season: May-September

Active Chemical Ingredient: Hesperidin (C28H34O15) relieves poor circulation.

Use: Mullein is able to treat frostbite.

Preparation: Mix oil with the macerated flowers and apply externally to the frostbitten area.
