Aldebaran

Aldebaran (Alpha Tauri)

Aldebaran is the brightest star found in the Taurus constellation and is also one of the brightest stars found in the sky. Interestingly, the star is 153 times brighter than our sun. It's name has Arabic origins, meaning "the Follower." It is often referred to as the Taurus bull's fiery eye due to its distinct reddish-orange glow. I chose to record information on Aldebaran because it is the brightest star in my astrological sign, Taurus, as I was born in the month of May.

Chemical Components: Hydrogen (H), helium (He), carbon (C), oxygen (O), and magnesium (Mg)

Location: RA 4° 35' 55" | Dec 16° 30.558'

Spectrum Analysis: Aldebaran's shell of gas and dust mostly consists of magnesium, thus making it cooler than the core of the star.
